McCullough's journey took him to the Toronto Blue Jays organization and then to the Lansing Lugnuts, where he met his wife, Jill.
The couple, both family-oriented, chose Jupiter as their home base, close to Jill's parents. With their growing family, including three children, McCullough and Jill faced the challenges of a baseball lifestyle. But they found ways to stay connected, with Jill often bringing the kids to California during the summer.
"My wife is a superhero," McCullough says, acknowledging her support. Coaching in Miami has allowed them to spend more time together as a family, and Jill appreciates the shorter separations.
As McCullough looks ahead to the 2026 season, he's excited to continue building and improving. He sees the potential in his young squad and the opportunity to create something special.
"A blank canvas is beautiful," he says. "We can create our own path, and that's exciting."
So, what's next for the Miami Marlins and Clayton McCullough? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure - they're a team to watch, and they might just surprise everyone.
